AT&T and Verizon have confirmed being targeted by the China-linked Salt Typhoon hacking operation, which aimed to extract intelligence on foreign political and intelligence figures. Both companies stated their networks have since been cleared of the intrusion. AT&T, based in Dallas, disclosed that the hackers sought information related to foreign intelligence. Meanwhile, New York-based Verizon reported that the attack specifically targeted a small group of high-profile government and political customers.
