Marko Elez, a 25-year-old engineer at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), resigned after The Wall Street Journal linked him to a social media account with racist posts. The account, which has since been deleted, made xenophobic statements and promoted eugenic immigration policies before President Trump’s 2025 inauguration. Elez had access to confidential federal payment records at the Treasury Department and previously worked at X and SpaceX, both owned by Elon Musk.
