A recent Facebook malvertising campaign exploited Meta’s advertising platform to distribute malware disguised as a Bitwarden security update. Cybersecurity researchers at Bitdefender revealed that the campaign targeted business accounts, tricking users into installing malicious Chrome extensions. Deceptive Facebook ads mimicked Bitwarden’s branding, creating urgency by warning about compromised passwords. Victims were redirected through fake websites to a phishing page that impersonated the Chrome Web Store, instructing them to install a malicious extension via a manual process.
