Rooms, a 3D design app founded by former Google employees, has secured $1 million in funding from Google, alongside early access to its Gemini AI. Launched in 2023, Rooms allows users to build interactive 3D spaces and mini-games with a library of over 10,000 customizable items, further editable using Lua programming. The app, recently updated to version 3.0, introduced an Actions editor enabling users to animate their creations without coding and plans to enhance storytelling with Gemini 2.0's text-to-speech features, including character narration with adjustable tones. With over 1 million rooms created and a growing inventory, Rooms has become a platform for creative expression and coding education, attracting previous investments from notable backers like Andreessen Horowitz and Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger. While currently available on iOS and the web, the app has not yet introduced monetization or shared updated user engagement metrics. Continue here.
