Grubhub will pay $25 million to settle allegations from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul over deceptive practices. The claims include misleading customers about delivery costs, overstating driver earnings, and listing 325,000 unaffiliated restaurants without permission, harming both businesses and customers. The FTC noted that hidden fees often doubled the advertised price of deliveries, while misleading ads exaggerated drivers' hourly pay. Under the settlement, Grubhub must cease these practices, although the company denies the allegations and maintains many are outdated or incorrect.
