A cyberattack on Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) in August 2023 compromised the personal information of 883,000 individuals. The attack disrupted internal systems, communications, online applications, and hospital operations for several days across 15 hospitals in Wisconsin and Illinois. Hackers accessed the network between August 16 and August 27, stealing sensitive data, including Social Security numbers, medical records, and health insurance details. HSHS began notifying affected individuals in October 2023, but by August 2024, it had yet to determine the full extent of the breach.
