Johns Hopkins University announced it is laying off over 2,000 workers worldwide after losing $800 million in federal grants due to Trump administration cuts. The funding reductions targeted key programs such as a $50 million HIV treatment initiative in India and a $200 million child disease treatment grant. The university cut 1,975 positions in 44 countries and 247 in the U.S., with affected employees given at least 60 days' notice. Additionally, around 100 workers were furloughed as part of the cuts.
