Medusind, a Florida-based medical and dental billing solutions provider, revealed a data breach affecting over 360,000 individuals, discovered on December 29, 2023. The breach involved the theft of sensitive information, including names, Social Security numbers, health, billing, and payment details, as confirmed by a cybersecurity forensic investigation. Impacted individuals are being offered two years of free identity monitoring, but the delayed notification of over a year may have given cybercriminals ample time to exploit the data. While Medusind has not confirmed a ransomware attack, the incident aligns with trends in healthcare data breaches often linked to ransomware.
