Juan Soto has signed a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets, including a $75 million signing bonus and an opt-out option after five years. The deal, pending a physical, is the largest in sports history, surpassing Shohei Ohtani’s $700 million contract with the Dodgers and Lionel Messi’s $674 million deal with Barcelona. Soto’s annual average value (AAV) of $51 million sets a new MLB record, eclipsing Ohtani’s previous mark. The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox were also contenders for Soto, with the Yankees offering a $760 million deal over 16 years.
