The South Korean startup Cinamon has raised an $8.5 million Series B round to further develop its AI-driven animated video generation platform, CINEV, which is set to launch in beta in 2025. Unlike traditional AI video generators that generate pixels from text or images, CINEV constructs 3D scenes with characters and environments, allowing for easier direction and editing of long-form content like films and dramas. Cinamon, originally founded as Cinamon Games in 2019, pivoted to 3D animation tools instead of interactive storytelling, believing in the greater scalability of 3D content production. The company has previously secured $10 million in Series A funding from investors like Krafton and Naver Z and joined Nvidia’s startup accelerator, Inception, in 2023. With a team of 60 experts in AI, 3D graphics, and content production, Cinamon aims to target creators in anime, VTubing, and cinematic game development while leveraging its investors' IPs and assets.
