Onyx Motorbikes has been revived by its original founder, Tim Seward, a year after the sudden death of previous owner James Khatiblou left customers with unfulfilled orders and the company saddled with millions in debt. Seward announced the brand's return on LinkedIn, revealing that Onyx will initially sell about 100 RCR electric dirt bikes, though it’s unclear if these are newly produced or from earlier batches. Khatiblou’s mismanagement during his ownership led to severe financial and legal issues, including $2.2 million owed to creditor Oxygen Funding, whose petition to manage Khatiblou’s estate remains unresolved. The revival's financial backers and the involvement of Onyx LLC stakeholders Kenneth Ames and Troy Smith, who own 37.5% of the company, are yet to be confirmed.
