PowerSchool announced a data breach in December 2024, compromising personal information of students and educators. The breach, identified on December 28, affected only PowerSchool's Student Information System (SIS), accessed through its customer support portal, PowerSource. The exposed data included names, contact details, birth dates, medical info, and Social Security numbers, but not credit card or banking data. PowerSchool has offered two years of free identity theft and credit monitoring services to those affected and has stated that no operational disruptions occurred.
